about

Wangari is a musical project that mixes styles like Indie Rock, Sampling and Electronic with World Music elements. In the first album called Elephants, being released in July of 2016, the most predominant influences are from African root music, with vocal samples of traditional chants and percussion being used. Artists like Bombino, Vieux Farka Toureé, Tinariwen, Goat, Fool's Gold are some of the inspiration for this work.

This project was created by Daniel Moreira, who wrote and produced all the music, but relying on some friends for singing in certain tracks. All the others tracks are instrumentals.

The first single is called “Animals” featuring Helder Pereira who sang and wrote the lyrics. This song sound is close to Indie Pop but always with some ethnic elements, like the chants in the chorus.

The lyrical themes revolve around the relationship of men with nature and his role while inhabitant of this planet.
